“Saving Bikini Bottom: “The Sandy Cheeks Movie” is an animated adventure comedy film spin off of the record-breaking hit animated series; “SpongeBob SquarePants”. Liza Johnson directed the film, and its voice cast consists of the series’ main team; the movie is dedicated to Sandy Cheeks, the brave squirrel-scientist from Texas.
The story kicks off with a catastrophic event: all of the residents of Bikini Bottom along with the city they live in becomes suddenly missing from the sea and transfered to a secret lab in Texas. This makes for a great chase where Sandy being the best friend of SpongeBob SquarePants helps him save their town and its peculiar residents from an evil plan of destroying them. The viewers get to learn about a new phase in the relationship of the main characters and new obstacles they face trying to find out more about the kidnap.
It is possible to note that the movie explores the topics related to friendship, courage, and perseverance. It is noteworthy that in Sandy’s quest from the beginning to the end of the episode, it is not just the city of Bikini Bottom that has been saved along with the inhabitants, but Sandy herself too knowing that there is courage within oneself and within a community. Carolyn Lawrence is the voice of Sandy, Tom Kenny back as SpongeBob, and other main cast are CLancy Brown as Mr Krabs, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, and Rodger Bumpass as Squidward.
